BYC Chowder Races Return!

Ready, set, go! The Berkeley Yacht Club Chowder Races begin on Sunday, October 16!

We are super excited because these BYC Chowder Races offer members and non-members a great opportunity to experience recreational racing on a J/105 with a Race Coach… not to mention a fun way to enjoy a winter day on the Bay.

These drop-in races require Basic Keelboat or equivalent sailing experience and are geared towards sailors new to racing as well as those with racing experience looking to sharpen their skills. Sailors will be placed in positions based on previous experience and desired roles. Spinnakers may be used in light air, ultimately at the discretion of the racing coach.

Races are on Sundays beginning October 16. Our start time is 10:00 a.m. with a few hours of practice on the water before the 1:00 p.m. race start. The races have no time limit, but we will retire if we have not finished by 4:00pm.

2022 Prices
Single Race: $150 for members, $175 for non-members
Race Pack of 5: $625 for members and $725 for non-members
