Checkout Sail

A Checkout Sail is a 3-hour afternoon session for the “evaluation of” rather than “development of” sailing skills.

You will have 1-2 other students as crew, plus an instructor. The instructor will be in observation mode and offer minimal instruction or guidance. He/she is there to evaluate your competence and seamanship as if you were chartering on your own.

Book a Checkout Sail if you’d like to:

a) Be approved for chartering after a 1+ year period of non-activity (or if you hold certification(s) from another sailing school).

b) Challenge a U.S. Sailing certification (e.g., test out of Basic Keelboat).

c) Complete the on-the-water evaluation portion of a Sailing Course that you’ve taken.
