Dufour 36 “D’uphoria”
The Dufour 36 isn’t the most common 36-foot boat on the San Francisco Bay, but that’s what makes her special.
This hidden gem of a boat sails very nicely. One thing we like about her is the reefing system, which is very similar to that of a J24. The reefing system includes reefing hooks (ram’s horns) on either side of the goose, instead of the single-line reefing system you find on many others similar sized boats.
She has a sail drive configuration which can be tricky when motoring. There is minimal prop walk (for better or worse) and there is a bit of a delay in transitioning from reverse to forward. But the engine hums like a kitten and will take you where you need to go.
Down below is impeccable … and very cozy in a traditional sense with lots of wood and handholds.
She’s a great boat for a sleep over at a mooring or on the hook!
