Course Enrollment and Cancellation Policies

In order to ensure that every student receives the best education and most positive experience, we have a few enrollment and cancellation policies that we are asking everyone to follow. These policies apply to anyone enrolling in a course regardless of how they paid or the amount they paid. For example, a client who purchased a Basic Keelboat Sailing Gift Certificate from an auction is subject to the same policies as someone who paid Inspire Sailing full price for the course.

Enrollment Policy for Courses

  • Students must meet the prerequisites or complete a challenge.

  • Courses are for adults only - students must be 18 years old to participate. We occasionally offer a Teen/Adult course for students 14 years and up, however he or she must be enrolled in the course with a parent or guardian.

  • To secure a spot in the course, students must pay the tuition in full.

  • Inspire Sailing will allow students to enroll in a Basic Cruising course prior to the completion of Basic Keelboat. If the student does not pass Basic Keelboat prior to the first day of the Basic Cruising course, no rescheduling fee will be charged.

Cancellation Policy for Courses

  • If you cancel with greater than 30 days notice from the first day of your course, you will get a full refund.

  • If you cancel 29 - 15 days prior to the first day of your course, you will get a 50% refund.

  • If you cancel 1 - 14 prior to the first day of your course, you are not eligible for a refund.

Rescheduling Policy for Courses

  • If you need to reschedule your course before your course has begun, you can do so at no additional charge if you provide 30 days notice or greater.

  • If you need to reschedule within 29 - 15 days of the first day of class, you must pay a $295 rescheduling fee.

  • If you need to reschedule within 1 - 14 days of the first day of class, you must pay a $425 rescheduling fee.

If a Student is Unable to Finish a Course

  • If a student is unable to finish his or her course once it has begun, they can either be a last-minute drop in to a future course at no additional charge or they can reserve their spot in a future course for a rescheduling fee of $425. Drop-in students will be added to a course no sooner than 48 hours prior to the first day of class.

 Low Enrollment Cancellation Policy

  • If the class minimum is not met, the enrolled student(s) will be given the option to reschedule or a full refund. U.S. Sailing course enrollment cancellations are made 7 days prior to the first day of class.
