Welcome to Inspire Sailing, a new sailing school and club at Berkeley Marina. With the unfortunate closure of OCSC Sailing, you may be wondering what lies ahead for your future sailing plans. What will be available at Berkeley? What will be new and different? We’d like to invite you to join us at Inspire Sailing.
Our mission is to provide the best sailing experiences available on the Bay and to expand sailing opportunities with flotillas and adventures throughout the world. We will offer top-quality sailing education, an extensive and finely maintained fleet, cruising adventures, and team building events.

The Inspire Sailing Team
Leigh Hunt. In addition to my role as CEO of Sausalito-based Modern Sailing School & Club, I am the CEO of Inspire Sailing. I am pleased to have a strong complement of industry professionals joining me to build a robust and long-lasting sailing organization in Berkeley.
Dan Givens, a long-time OCSC member, boat owner and US Sailing instructor, will take the Berkeley helm as the interim General Manager.
Bill Moreland, currently COO of Modern Sailing will expand his role to be the General Manager in Sausalito and COO of Inspire Sailing.
Keith Milne, long-time Berkeley sailor and industry finance professional will round out the executive team as CFO.
This consolidated management team will enable Inspire Sailing to adopt and combine the best practices distilled from Modern Sailing’s 37 years of operation plus lessons from industry professionals to provide members and boat owners with best-in-class services.
The Inspire Sailing Management Team
As partner organizations, Inspire Sailing and Modern Sailing will offer members a new category of dual-site membership. Qualified members will enjoy chartering from both of the Bay Area’s most attractive sailing locations and fleets – Inspire Sailing in Berkeley and Modern Sailing in Sausalito. Dual-site members will also receive member rates for each location’s course and clinic offerings, including Modern Sailing’s ASA School offerings, USCG Captain’s License courses, and US Sailing Courses and other offerings at Inspire Sailing.
