Reviews from Our First J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic

Inspire Sailing ran its first J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic on November 19. Conditions were light on the 19th and we had enough participants to fill 5 boats, making for a fun day of learning and competing for all.

The response from participants has been enthusiastic. Two of them contributed their feedback in writing, which they gladly gave us permission to share.

“I was so happy to see the J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic being set up at Inspire Sailing and the first clinic day exceeded my expectations. Unlike other racing clinics where there is a coach on the boat helping you at all times, the J/24 format gives you and your crew the opportunity to be fully in charge. You get to define your strategy, execute it on your own and learn to make quick decisions as you race. All of this in the supportive and constructive environment that has become Katie Cornetta's trademark. If you are at the beginning of your racing journey, I cannot think of a better and more fun way to learn.” — Paolo Juvara

“I thoroughly enjoyed the J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic! In the first half, we practiced starts and roundings, skippering our boat in a crew of three, and in the second half [of the day], we raced each other. Each of us got to skipper practice runs and a race. Our race instructor Katie expertly coached all the boats throughout the day from a race committee power boat. It is a unique opportunity that Inspire is maintaining a whole fleet of those nimble J/24 race boats and started hosting monthly races where we can hone our experience and learn from each other. It was also a lot of fun! I definitely will be back for more!” — Barbara B.
