We are adding Seminars to the calendar! Call or email us to book your spot now! Even if you’ve taken similar seminars before, these might be a good post-pandemic refresher!

The following 3-hour seminars are off-the-water, and provide an opportunity to do a deep dive on specific topics as well as engage in Q&A with an experienced instructor. These seminars will be repeated every few weeks. So don’t worry if you miss these initial sessions.

Navigation I - Sun 9/12 (9:00am-12:00pm)

• Learn how to read charts, use the current and tide tables, and identify aids to navigation.

Seamanship I - Sun 9/12 (2:00pm-5:00pm)

• Learn about the “rules of the road,” light configurations, sound signals, safety equipment, and medical issues.

Seamanship II - Tue 9/14 (7:00pm-10:00pm)

• In this seminar, we focus on the navigational challenges of the Berkeley Marina (traffic, depth, wind, lee shores) and review safe marina procedures. We also discuss skipper responsibilities and how to handle various emergencies.

Navigation II - Coming soon

• Learn how to take bearings, use charting tools, plot fixes and courses, and make corrections for current and leeway.

For students going through the Basic Keelboat and Basic Cruising courses, all four seminars will be required before charter privileges are granted.
